A Squash and a Squeeze: Sharing Stories with Julia Donaldson

This brand new exhibition will bring Julia Donaldson’s captivating story worlds to life. Find out how she wrote modern classics such as The Gruffalo, Princess Mirror-Belle and The Troll and explore original artwork by her many illustrators – most famously Axel Scheffler. Come along on Saturday 17 or Sunday 18 March to be one of the first to see the exhibition during the opening weekend. Follow her journey from song writer for children’s television to current Children’s Laureate. See how she inspires her readers with story rhyme and rhythm. Children and their families can share stories and explore sensory environments based on Donaldson’s books. Follow in Toddle Waddle’s footsteps, climb into the cave with The Cave Baby and meet The Gruffalo. Sing-a-long to her songs on Julia’s Jukebox or perform a play in our theatre. Supported by Scholastic, Macmillan Children's Books and Alison Green Books.

The Biggest Book Show on Earth

The Gruffalo's Child Singalong Show

Join with Julia and her husband Malcolm, accompanied by a live band, for a grand singalong from her stories and songbooks - the latest of which is The Gruffalo's Child and Other Songs. Julia and firends will also act out The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child with a special appearance from the Gruffalo himself. National Libraries Day: Julia at Canning Town Library
