A personal favourite which doesn't appear on this list is What the ladybird Heard. I read it to my reception class and they were absolutely enthralled. They requested the book over and over and never grew tired of it. There were excellent opportunities for them to join in with sounds and they all went off to draw their own maps. I found it a brilliant starting point for some really wonderful learning.

My daughter has all of Julia Donaldson's books (well except The Highway Rat - I'm waiting for it to come on the paperback!) She adores all of them but her special favourites are Tabby MacTat & Tiddler. She sings the meaoww .... song all the time &she's only 2 & 1/2! Julia, please keep writing the amazing stories - you keep all of us so entertained!!!!!

All of her books are without a doubt the best childrens books. Although we especially love Stick Man - I even have a huge Stick Man that the children at my daughters school made stuck on the wall as you walk up my stairs. They were going to throw him away at the end of term! Oh poor old Stick Man. Stick man Stick man beware of the dog . Oh I just love this story : )
