A personal favourite which doesn't appear on this list is What the ladybird Heard. I read it to my reception class and they were absolutely enthralled. They requested the book over and over and never grew tired of it. There were excellent opportunities for them to join in with sounds and they all went off to draw their own maps. I found it a brilliant starting point for some really wonderful learning.
My daughter has all of Julia Donaldson's books (well except The Highway Rat - I'm waiting for it to come on the paperback!) She adores all of them but her special favourites are Tabby MacTat & Tiddler. She sings the meaoww .... song all the time &she's only 2 & 1/2! Julia, please keep writing the amazing stories - you keep all of us so entertained!!!!!
It was hard to choose one! But my all time favourites are The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, Charlie Cook's Favourite Book, Monkey Puzzle and best of all The Smartest Giant in Town!!
All of her books are without a doubt the best childrens books. Although we especially love Stick Man - I even have a huge Stick Man that the children at my daughters school made stuck on the wall as you walk up my stairs. They were going to throw him away at the end of term! Oh poor old Stick Man. Stick man Stick man beware of the dog . Oh I just love this story : )
i took my son to see The Stick Man and thought it was fantastic. Keep writing these great stories.
All the books were my favourite - it is so hard to choose. Anyway i have chosen Room On The Broom as my favourite.
I adore Zog. I read it to Heidi every other day. She wants to grow up and be a flying doctor like Princess Pearl. The illustrations are brilliant and I cannot praise this book, or any of Julia's books, enough.
Although it is one of Julia's longer books, The Snail and the Whale is a pleasure to read and is always my first choice. My son is now 7 but has been joining in the words of this story for years. We get swept up in the wanderlust of the little snail and 'long to sail' and explore the world!
Absolutely love The Gruffalo and so do the children I work with. They enjoy the story and the rhyme.
My favourite book is Room on the Broom because its funny and cool!
Chocolate Mouse for Greedy Goose! But then my daughter is only 6 months old! Sinead
