Perform a Poem

Perform a Poem is a website for people in schools who like performing and watching performance poetry.
Here you'll find video poems made by young people all over London. You can browse videos and upload your own video poems with your teacher’s help.
Poetry is the sound of words in your ears, it’s the look of poets in motion and that can be you. Make your poems sing, whisper, shout and float. Let the words make the rhythm and give the viewers a buzz to see you.
Michael Rosen, Children's Laureate 2007-2009
In addition to the Poetry Friendly Classroom, Michael Rosen also developed Perform-a-Poem during his time as Laureate - a new website for sharing children's poetry performances.
With resources to help teachers and their pupils write, choose, perform, film, edit and upload performance poetry videos, this secure site was developed in line with national standards on e-safety and child protection.
The website is currently available via the London Grid for Learning, so although anyone can browse videos and use the resources on the site, only London teachers can upload their pupils' poetry performances. However, Perform-a-Poem is available to be hosted by other UK learning grids.Contact education@booktrust.org.uk for more details.
