  • Poetry-Friendly Classroom

Discover how to make your classroom poetry-friendly. With video tips by Children's Laureate Michael Rosen, downloadable activity sheets and a forum for you to share your ideas and experiences of teaching poetry

    Watch the video clips

We want you to send in your own suggestions for poems that work well in the classroom and share your own experiences surrounding the teaching of poetry.

The idea of this webpage is to be a place where teachers and anyone working on poetry with children and young people can share ideas, ask questions, tell stories and give accounts of great poetry sessions in their classrooms

To get you started I’ve put together 13 video tips on how to create a poetry-friendly classroom.

We would love you to send in your own suggestions for poems that work well in the classroom and share your own experiences surrounding the teaching of poetry.

This can be about reading, performing and writing poetry but it can also be about spin-offs into other kinds of activity, or what I could call ‘spin-ins' – that’s to say, how you, as a teacher, got into a poem through other activities.

Watch this space for new resources, coming soon.
